Marguerita M. Cheng is the chief executive officer at Blue Ocean Global Wealth. She is a past spokesperson for the AARP Financial Freedom campaign and a regular columnist for Investopedia and Kiplinger.
A CFP professional and chartered retirement planning counselor (CRPC), Marguerita is a member of the CNBC Digital Financial Advisor Council. In addition, she is an experienced retirement income certified professional (RICP) and a certified divorce financial analyst (CDFA).
As a Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Ambassador, Marguerita educates the public, policy makers and media about the benefits of competent, ethical financial planning. She serves as a Women’s Initiative (WIN) advocate and member of the Diversity Advisory Group (DAG) for the CFP Board. She served on the Financial Planning Association (FPA) National Board of Directors from 2013 to 2015 and is a past president of the Financial Planning Association of the National Capital Area (FPA NCA).
Rita is a recipient of the prestigious Japanese Monbukagakusho Scholarship. In 2017, she claimed the third Most Influential Financial Advisor spot on the Investopedia Top 100 Financial Advisors list and was included among InvestmentNews’ Women to Watch, which honors female leaders and role models in the financial industry.
