The positive side of having a structured settlement is that your payments come to you monthly or quarterly or whichever way that you set up with the company. So you're not getting a lump sum payment that then becomes vulnerable to overspending, for example. So the structured settlement will give you a payout every month which will then help you to take care of the injured party or the family who's been left behind or that will take care of the child or the incapacitated adult over time, over a long period of time. Rather than receiving a lump sum, putting in the bank, putting in investments that could be vulnerable, it's dispersed periodically to pay for expenses for the person or the family.
